Visit of NRW Environment Minister Krischer to the Lengerich Site

Focus on Sustainable Cement Production and Climate Protection

Lengerich, May 12, 2025 – How can CO emissions in cement production be further reduced? What role do alternative raw materials and fuels play for a sustainable industry? These and other questions were the main focus of the visit of Environment Minister Oliver Krischer and Alexandra Landsberg, Head of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Environmental Economy at the Ministry for the Environment NRW, on May 9, 2025, in Lengerich.

During their visit, they learned about our activities to reduce CO emissions and the use of suitable secondary raw materials and fuels at the Lengerich site. The guests gained insight into the production processes and specific measures taken in Lengerich to systematically reduce the consumption of natural resources. A special focus was placed on the use of secondary raw materials – a key topic for a sustainable circular economy. Furthermore, future challenges posed by industrial transformation and the ambitious targets for achieving climate-neutral cement production were discussed in depth.

Minister Krischer expressed his admiration for the progress already achieved and the clear commitment of our company to sustainable business practices. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of a close exchange between politics and industry in order to jointly develop viable solutions for climate protection that meet the requirements of forward-looking production.

We would like to thank Mr. Krischer and Ms. Landsberg for their visit and the constructive dialogue. The exchange was enriching for both sides and marks another step on the joint path towards ecologically and economically sustainable production processes.
