First CO₂ captured and liquefied in Geseke
Start of the CO₂ capture test phase marks an important milestone for Dyckerhoff
On April 29, 2026, the Geseke plant, together with Capsol Technologies, celebrated the start of the test campaign for CO₂ capture, including liquefaction and temporary storage in a tank. This makes us one of the first cement plants in Germany to successfully take this step. Achieving this goal within the project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy represents a significant move toward more climate-friendly cement production.
The CO₂ was first captured from the production process from the capture unit supplied by Capsol and then liquefied in a second system. In the coming months, we will conduct extensive test series to better understand the processes and gain experience for potential future projects.
Our sincere thanks go to everyone who made this possible – especially to the team in Wiesbaden for their technical and organizational preparation, as well as to the team at the Geseke plant and Capsol for their dedicated on-site efforts. This progress would not have been possible without such strong collaboration.
This achievement marks an important milestone on our path toward even more sustainable production processes and is something we can be proud of.
