Dyckerhoff at the zusammen.bauen. Expertenmesse

Dyckerhoff at the zusammen.bauen. Expertenmesse

On February 20 and 21, 2025, Dyckerhoff participated in the inaugural "zusammen.bauen. Expertenmesse" in Kelsterbach near Frankfurt with an exhibition stand and a presentation.

The fair was held in the new, approximately 10,000 m² warehouse on the premises of the wego Systembaustoffe branch in Frankfurt am Main – an ideal location for such a large-scale event with more than 90 exhibitors. The building materials specialist wego vti, the organizer of the fair, invited companies from the construction industry to promote exchange about the future of the sector.

At the Dyckerhoff stand, visitors and exhibitors could learn about bagged cement products and the latest developments in sustainable cements. Particularly popular were the eco-friendly tote bags, designed in the style of an ECO COMFORT cement bag. Additionally, Dr. Kira Weise (Application Technology, Dyckerhoff) gave a technical presentation on new cements and the decarbonization of the cement industry. The audience received fundamental insights into the need for CO₂-reduced cements, their applications, and an overview of the Dyckerhoff clinker-efficient cement portfolio.

The fair provided an excellent opportunity for in-depth discussions with customers and professionals from various fields, including drywall construction, flooring systems, and technical insulation. An Après-ski-themed evening program created a relaxed networking atmosphere.

We are delighted by the positive feedback and the valuable exchange with our partners and customers!

NEXT BASE / NEXT CLINKER (CSA)

Buzzi Unicem Next base – a hydraulic binder which is based on calcium sulphoaluminate clinker, created from a mixture of bauxite, gypsum and lime heated to a temperature of approximately 1350°C and then subsequently ground with an anhydrite.

Next base can be utilised alone as a rapid-hardening binding agent or combined with cement according to DIN EN 197. This enables the manufacture of products with low shrinkage and faster strength development.

Next base enables to develop mortars and concretes with a wide range of performance levels, and is compatible with commonly used additives for regulating the setting time, liquefaction, viscosity, shrinkage compensation, acceleration, retarding time, etc.

Our contribution to sustainability:
The small amounts of limestone in the raw materials and the low firing temperatures reduce CO2 emissions significantly.

Next base

  • Is particularly suitable for utilisation at low temperatures, in high, sulphate content conditions and with ASR risks (alkali silica reaction).
  • Guarantees high uniformity and extended shelf life.
  • Was the first calcium sulphoaluminate cement manufactured in Europe to receive CE marking, subsequent to a 3 year trial period. Thereby, this ecologically sustainable cement complies with the same strong criteria that were established for Portland cements.

Now also available:
Next clinker

  • guarantees consistent performance and excellent stability during storage
  • like Next base, supports low shrinkage behavior and rapid strength development and quick curing
  • is used as an accelerator for mortars, adhesives and other premix products
  • long durability, low permeability to aggressive substances and extremely high resistance to sulphate attacks

Next products are manufactured at the Italian Trino plant.

Decarbonization

Large quantities of CO2 are released in the production of cement and its preliminary product cement clinker. Approximately two thirds of this can be attributed to raw material-induced process emissions from limestone calcination, and roughly one third to the energy-related CO2 emissions from the fuels used.

We, Buzzi and Dyckerhoff, are committed to further reducing CO2 emissions throughout our entire cement and concrete value chain, and have stated that in our roadmap "Our Journey to Net Zero“.

We are reducing energy-related CO2 emissions by optimizing the efficiency of our plants and increasingly using alternative fuels. To reduce raw material-induced process emissions, we are replacing part of the raw material mix with alternative raw materials containing calcium and already calcinated materials.

We base the measures to reduce our CO2 emissions on the 5C approach of the European cement association CEMBUREAU – Clinker, Cement, Concrete, Construction und (Re)Carbonation – towards a climate-neutral industry. The German association Verein Deutscher Zementwerke VDZ also builds on this approach in its jointly developed CO2 roadmap for the German cement industry.

The 5C approach describes our industry's path to completely reducing CO2 emissions by 2045 along the value chain stages clinker, cement, concrete, and building, as well as the recarbonation of CO2 into concrete during and after the use of a building component. We are committed to achieving the necessary objectives and course of action.

Dyckerhoff offers among others these CO2 reduced cements:

Dyckerhoff ECO COMFORT – bagged cements

CEM II/C-M (S-LL) 42,5 N-NA 1)
CEM II/B-M (V-LL) 42,5 N (az) 2)
